I have purchased a new AXI 2080-10 brushless motor with Jeti 40A controller.
I have a Sanyo eight cell 3300 MiAh battery, the salesman told me I will have no problem using it with my new motor.
is he right? Should I buy a new pack (1700 MiAh for example)?

The Sanyo 3300 pack can certainly supply the 35amps needed for you AXI motor.
The application itself usually determines the best battery choice. For example, on my Wipa Firecat, I used a 10-cell, CP1700 pack for more power and less weight.
Compared to your Sanyo 3300 pack, my flight duration is much shorter.
Both setups work fine but they have different benefits.
