Default Motor drawing too much?

I'm new to electrics. Did some reading and thought i bought the right setup, i am thinkin not. I have a GP rifle. I bought a gensace BL2738-3430kv motor with a gensace 30a esc. Running a 4.75x4.75 prop. Using a 3 cell skylipo 1000mah 30c battery. first flight ran half throttle to trim plane and get use to its handling, battery was warm but not hot. 2nd flight ran wide open, got maybe 1.5 min flight then power dropped and i landed. battery was quite warm and pack was swollen. Could anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong. Any information would be greatly appriciated.

Get a watt meter and you probaly find you're drawing to much current. What "C" rating on the battery? Try a different prop.

3430Kv on 3s with a 4.75x4.75...wow!...... you could well be drawing 40A!!!! [on a 30A max pack... no wonder it has puffed. You MUST get a Wattmeter to find out what your actual current draw is].

I don't know that motor but to give you an idea..... an ARC 28-37-2.5 (2900Kv) with a 4.75x4.75 drew 31.4A/354W... an ARC 28.37.2 (~3750Kv) with only a 4.5x4.1 drew 41.60A/444W

That motor is rated for 20A continuous....30A/300W burst... so you risk frying it.

Of course if the idiots at GensAce recommend a 10x5 prop... then what the h... do they know. (Nitroplanes and Hobbypartz both simply compound the error by repeating it!).

Even the 4.75 square is too much prop! I'd say a 4.5 square is max for that motor. I run a Scorpion 3000kv heli motor with a 4.75 square at 32 amps, its rated for 44amps. They recommend a 4.5 square with 3500kv motor, and that being pushed to its limits. FWIWflytreetimes
