I am not very familiar with electric motors, but I just bought from a friend a Mega FAI-10SP motor with a VMG-2/1 speed reduction (I guess it´s 2 to 1 speed reduction, it says No. 0012).
I have no idea of the electrical characteristics of this motor. Could anyone tell me how many cells should be used, Amps, speed control, propeller (with this speed reduction) and in what size and type of plane could I use it?
Just to have an idea, how much does a used one in good condition should cost?
Thanks.

That motor was used in 10 cell F5B planes a few years back--use 8-12 cells and run with props that pull 40-80 amps. It is a good motor for short bursts of high power--not for your slow sport plane. Low power applications don't suit it well.

At our field the most common used brushless motors are the Mega's.
