inrunner motor for .25 size airplane
I have a Goldberg Jr Tiger. It has a beam mount which I don't want to remove. I am looking for an equivalent brushless inrunner motor/esc to run on 3-4 cells. I have seen in the past a type of mount that sandwichs the motor between and screws to the beam mount. Any info would be appreciated
Thanks,
Jim

I think the simpler way would be to use an outrunner motor. An "L" mount would work BUT they are for smaller motors .Folks have taken a glass filled beam mount, turned it around and mounted the motor to the rear of the mount then mounted that to the existing beam with some fabbing along the way. If you can remove the mount then replacing it with an adjustable mount or a "X" mount with stand-offs would work. The brushless motor you would need would be a Power 25 or 32 size with a 45 amp or 60 amp ESC and a 4 cell 3200mah LiPo. The motor size will depend on the weight of the finished plane; if it's 3-5lbs then a 25size would work 4-6lbs then a 32 size.
Here is a good place to buy and they are very helpful:

but if you didn't care about keeping the beam mounts then I agree the outrunner could be a simpler solution.

You'll want an inrunner capable of coping with about 500W... say 36A-40A on 4s. 28mm or 36mm diameter and 160g-200g should do it.
Something like this is a possibility.. Kv will depend on what prop you need, and the gear ratio you choose.
