Default 400 motor and ICS-300 combo

can I run a 400 motor with an ICS-300 safely?

The ICS300 is rated at 8 Amps continuous, and 12 Amps surge current. That's a little on the low side for my personal tastes. Speed 400 motors will draw 10-12 Amps when properly outfitted for best performance. I myself would rather have an ESC rated for at least 15 Amps, maybe 20.

Depends on what you're using this for, though... There are light-duty Speed 400 applications where the motor only draws about 8 Amps. How many cells, and what size prop are you using? Visit http://www.flydma.com and click on the P-Calc link at the top of the page for an electric power system calculator.
