I just ordered a razor 350 from rc-dymond http://www.rc-dymond.com/ Looks to me that they have them in stock. Every other place on-line I could find had them listed as out of stock. I'm wondering if they just didn't list them as out-of-stock and will put them on backorder for me. That would suck. It just seems like I've been hearing everyone talk about how hard they are to get a hold of, and it seemed too easy to just order it from them. Does anyone know for sure? I'll give them a call next week and check on my order.

Jason,
Thanks for the information.
My understanding is that the designer of Razor Motors has (or had) health problems...thus causing production delays.
I know that Bishop Power Products has the Razor 2500 in stock even though the Web site says otherwise.
Regards.

Well Bummer, I called and they are out of stock. I'm really wanting a brushless for my 3dx. I will be running a 3cell 1200mah etec pack. I'm not sure which motor to get now. Price really doesn't matter, I just want blistering vertical. Any recomendation on which hacker motor fits the bill? There are so many, that I get confused with them. Do they fit in a GWS gearbox so as to have an easy way to mount?

I'm not familiar with a 3DX, can you give some details?
The Razor 2500 is the same size as the 300-400 models...just longer. It is meant for 18-24oz models and can handle 15-18amps.

3dx is pretty much the same thing as the trident or tribute. It was designed around the gws 350c with d gearing and a 12x6 prop. Weight ranges are anywhere from 8-15 ounces all up. I did find a source that had the razor 400 in stock and I for sure got one coming. Next I'll have to give the Hacker b20 a go. Thanks

I just ordered the HiMaxx HA-2015-5400 already mounted in a GWS 350C gearbox w/6.6:1 gearing fron Stevens aeromodels for $75 !! It seems to be the best alternative to the Razors and cheaper too. This combo already has the adapter spacer, o-ring, and pinion installed and is "ready to fly" and even comes with gold plated connectors. I will post my results for everyone to see how it performs against my friends and their Razor equiped 3DX's.

I also just ordered the Himax-but with the 4100 Kv wind. on the GWS
I also am assembling a Hacker B20S 26 wind on a BB GWS setup--a bit more work as the motor shaft is not 2mm
So--I should have a fair comparison --
I have been testing various combos on my thrust stand and WHATT meter setup - sure saves a lot of time .
I decided to stay with the GWS gearboxes as changover on the models is extremely easy and even a horrible crash into hard stuff should only ruin the GWS gearbox at worst -

Here's a pic of my Himaxx 2015-5400 in the GWS "D" gearbox, thanks much to Bill at Stevens Aero for such good work and quick shipping! Now if my Jeti 18 speed control arrives today from Hobby-Lobby I'll be set to rock and roll!! And yes, he includes the gold connectors (male and female) already installed, what a deal for $75 !!

I still think that the Razor motors are out of stock everywhere except for Bishop Power Product having a hidden stock of the 2500 model.
I don't have a HiMaxx motor but I did notice an interesting arrival at [link=http://www.edogfight.com/]eDogFight.com[/link]. It is a Razor look-alike called the Typhoon micro brushless motor.

So far the Himaxx 2015-5400 is performing extremely well on 2s1p 1200 e-tech batteries. I fly for 15 minutes and get tired with lots of power still left in the pack . The 5400kv motor doesn't seem to like 3cell li-poly's and a 12x6 prop, so I might try a 11x4.7 prop to see if it's better. I flew in the 8mph winds we had on Sunday and it would go right into the wind at less than quarter throttle ! This was way too much wind for the 3DX, but it was too tempting to play in, the vertical is out of sight with the Himaxx too. One good thing about this motor is that it flys extremely well on AAA ni-mh 8 cell packs . I got 6 minutes of full on 3D hovering before the LVC cut in and made my plane nosedive to the terra-firma. Looks like a good deal to me, next I have to order a 4100kv one for the 3cell batteries and a 13x6.5 prop!![sm=lol.gif]

I checked out the specs on the Typhoons. They seem to be a little anemic and heavier as compared to the Razors. Have you had the opportunity to play with one?

I've been flying my 3DX on an Astro 10 turn 010. It's the motor for the Hornet heli. It has lots of power. I am running it in the C ratio box with an 11-4.7 on a 3S Kokam 1500 pack.
An excellent alternative to the Razor motors!
