Default Crazy 8. Will an Astro010 G work?

I am frustrated! Motocalc says it will be a pig and no prop seems to work according to its calcs. Anybody tried one of these in a C8? Using a 1500 Kokam lipoly.

Default RE: Crazy 8. Will an Astro010 G work?

The Astro 010 is really meant for "300 class" airplanes, ones that weigh in the 10-14 ounce range. Take a look at the Astroflight.com website. All the information on the 010's capabilities are there.

75 Watts, so 10 cells (3S LiPoly) at 7.5 Amps. To get aerobatic performance (100 Watts/lb) the plane would have to weigh around 12 ounces. I think the Crazy 8's wing weighs that much by itself.

My Crazy 8 weighs 28 ounces with a Mega 16/15/5, 2:1 gearbox, and 3S2P Etec LiPolys. You might be able to squeak it in at 24 ounces with the 010 and a 3S1P Kokam 1500. You're talking 50 Watts per pound, a dog. Motocalc was telling you the truth.
