I recently purchased a Razor RZ-2500 motor and there are absolutely no spec sent with the motor.
Every thread I have checked on RC-Universe is about Razor motor / gearboxes.
Does any run direct drive? Would this be a good engines for a Wattage Mirage Jet or a Wattage Rtor?
What prop size for direct drive? Is this motor an upgrade for a plane using a speed 400?
Regards

The Razor RZ-2500 motor is great for Pylon racing. Use a 4.5 x 4.1 APC electric prop direct drive with a 7-cell 500-600 mAh Ni-Cd pack.
It will handle 15-18amps pretty easy. Using a Pheonix-25 controller is a good match for the RZ-2500 motor.
This motor was designed for small 3D type aircraft, both indoor, and outdoor, or other aircraft operating on 7-10 cells NiCd (2-3 cells LiPo) at 7-20A. All screw mount gearboxes for Speed 280 and Speed 300 will attach with minor modifications.
A 3-cell, Kokam 1500HC pack works well on the RZ-2500 with a 4.7:1 gearbox and APC 9x6 prop. You'll get about 180 watts!

Hi Greg - am I to believe that one can get perhaps almost 20A (continuous) from an 8C Kokam 1500 pack? Even if the voltage remained near 10v, which I doubt, you'd need 18A to get that 180W - momentarily perhaps? I've seen some discharge performance graphs for Kokam 1500's and from those it seems you'd be lucky to get half what you have suggested [over the duration of the pack].

Hi Phil,
For short bursts, the Kokam pack will deliver 15-16amps pretty well.
Where did the 20amps come from? My 4.7:1 gearbox setup with the 9x6 prop?
