GWS 350C-DS with Aveox A-15?
Hey guys and gals! Am looking at purchasing a Mountain Models Tantrum and using 4 Hitec 55 servos, a GWS 350C-DS motor, 8 cell 1050MaH KAN NiMH, and my Aveox A-15 controller. Props to be used will be around 10x4.7, 11x5.5, 12x6 APC E. I am just wondering if the Aveox will be capable of powering the whole system properly.
Also, if any of you have the Tantrum, what brushless do you reccomend? I am thinking of the AXI 2212/26 or /34, or a Himax 2015 later on down the road!
On last thing, does anyone out there in RC land know if the thing is worth the money? Does the GWS perform as well as the guys at Mountain say it does with the GWS?
Thanks,
Reg

RE: GWS 350C-DS with Aveox A-15?
From what I have heard the Tantrum is great, even in stock form, but obviously better on brushless. You should NOT be running the 350 D-gear with a prop as big as 12x6 on 8-cells - that will pull 14A (113W!) from an 8-cell KAN pack - too much for a 350. An 11x5.5 might be okay, a 10x4.7 will draw perhaps 7.2A (65W) and will leave you a little underpowered.
Don't know about Himaxx, but I'd go for the very versatile 2212/34 - with an 11x7 HD on 3s TP 2100 you can get 22.75oz thrust @ 8.7A [8-cells will get you a bit less, but still plenty for a Tantrum].
Cheers, Phil
