GWS A OR D on a mini ifo?

GWS A OR D on a mini ifo?
I found 2 differnt gws motors and gear boxes in my garage i looked at the gear boxes and 1 has a A on it and the other has a D on it, motors look the same but the D gas a bigger gear are these the letters that signifly a,b,c,d on gws gear boxes? I want to change the stock setup on my mini ifo and suggestions?

I think the A (5.86:1) will be better - the D (9.66:1) would require a huge prop to give the IFO its get up and go.
