Has anyone tried the motors from a vaccuum cleaner, trolling motor from a boat, etc? I figure with the right set of gears and a good battery, you could use these. Anyone tried it?

I'm sure it could be done. Specially with battery driven devices such as "dustbusters" etc. Certain havier applications such as trolling motors, are built for a Heavy Duty application and I wouldn't suggest those type of motors.

That's what I was thinking, with the trolling motor that is. I might could use it for a large car or boat though; it definately has the torque.
Luckily, there is a vaccuum shop here in town and I could probably get some old motors cheap (that's why I asked).
By the way, for those that have tried CD-ROM motors: how much power did they have? I mean, what size plane can be powered by one?
And what size engine (the speed kind) would be the same powerwise as a .4 or .46?
Thanks again
