Default Speed 400, what is max current?

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what the max current is that a simple speed 400 will use?

Can I use a 20A regulator?
How does a speed 400 perform on NiMH cells?
Is it better to use NiCd?

What is the experience with 6 or 7 cells? big differnce?

I know, a lot of questions, but I hope to get the answers here ;o)

first of all you must specify which speed 400 it is. The best one for 6 or 7 cells is the 6volt model.

The maximum current if you want 10 to 15 flights out of it is 12 Amps.

There is an excellent series of articles on ezonemag.com

good luck

I'd keep any Speed 400: 6v (on 6-7 cells) or 7.2v (on 7-8 cells), at 10A max - their efficiency nose-dives, and their operating temperatures escalate, above that.

Cheers, Phil
