ESC Selection Help
Hi, I'm new to electrics and don't know much about ESC's. The ESC I bought was the only one available at my LHS. It's a SJ PROPO Skyline 22, which works well, however I get a lot of interference running down the throttle/power cable to the receiver. I have resolved this with the help of this forum, however I was wandering if there are ESC's out there that do not cause this interference in the first place? I need to buy another ESC (about 30A, brushed motor), so would appreciate any advise. Thanks

RE: ESC Selection Help
Welcome to RCU!
What fixed the interference problem? That'll tell us if the ESC was really at fault, or if it was a combination of factors. Generally if the interference problem was the ESC, it was that particular ESC, not the entire line. You could probably buy 10 more of the exact same ESC and not have a single problem with interference.
Here are a few brands to look at, if available over there:
Castle Creations
Jeti
GWS
Great Planes

RE: ESC Selection Help
Thanks for your reply Matt,
I read a post about interference transmitting down the throttle/power cable, so I started there. I disconnected the esc and plugged a battery pack directly into the receiver and tested the range etc. There was no noticeable interference. So, I had a spare toroid ring lying around, i wound the throttle cable around this - about 4 turns is all I got. This reduced the level of interference, but it was still there. I then connected an extention lead to the throttle cable, I then got about 9 turns around the ring. This seems to have removed any noticeable interference - servo chatter. (This was all done with the motors not running - GWS Warthog)
I am waiting for some in-line rf cokes to arrive, I'll try them to save the weight of the toriod ring.

RE: ESC Selection Help
I suppose I should also confess to trialling an el'cheapo receiver - feigao min 6 channel receiver. Seems to work ok, although when I plugged a futaba receiver in, the interference was reduced, but still pronounced.
