Default motor twitching

Hey guys, Im very new to electrics so here goes. I read a whole lot on how motors should be broken in and everything... well I finished my ultrafly cessna and trying to breakin the motor. Well i put it on very low throttle and hears this cracking clicking sound. So I checked it out for a while but found no problem anywhere. I dissasembled the motor... not take the thing apart but like take it off the gearbox so its just hanging by the wires to the ESC. Now with the motor hanging freely it twitches every few seconds. What's goin on here? is it a crappy motor or this is the reason for break in. After runing for a while it doesnt seem to get better. So is this normal?

I assume it's a brushed motor. Some are not so good even new. It shouldn't click. Could be an esc setting. Try hooking the motor directly to a C or D alkaline battery and see if it still clicks. You can break it in this way and just let it run in the direction it will on the plane for a couple hours without the gearbox or prop. Breaking in cheap motors helps a little but they still aren't real good. A lot of power is lost to heat and they typically don't last that long. If it doesn't run right just buy another, or best, go brushless. The difference is like night and day, and you won't have to keep buying cheap motors.

What kind of Motor and ESC? Castle Creations ESCs have a bug in the stock firmware that causes them to lurch back and forth at low throttle settings. This problem gets fixed by flashing in the current BIOS with the USB programming kit.

It's a C-30 ESC with the Falcon 400 motor that came with the ultrafly cessna
I dont really see a problem with it like when I rev it up or anything, but it just gets anoying at low throtle.
