Default DRAW??

When I connected my esc to my motor .I just stripped the wires and soldiered them, I could shorten them by at least 6". The instructions said not to cut the motor side? Do I want It closer or does it make any diff..( AXI 2212/34,CC25 esc 3 cell 11.1v Lipo 8C) Thanks for your time

Default RE: DRAW??

Sensorless brushless controllers use feedback from the motor to determine which way it's spinning, and hence the sequence in which to send the electrical pulses to the motor to make it spin in the correct direction. The length of the wires has a bearing on the resistance and impedance in the circuit, that is, how fast the feedback comes back from the motor, and the strength of the feedback.

I don't think the actual length of the wires is as important as the wires all being the same length. Some brushless motors come with fairly long leads, and some require you to solder the ESC leads directly to the motor. It may, however, be an issue of MINIMUM length.

For what little weight you save, it's really not worth cutting them.
