Default Mamba in Plane?

Has anyone put a Mamba in a plane? I have the Comp. X in my RC18T, but their site says you can use all of them in planes except the Comp. X. I was wondering if anybody knew why? They're closed today, so I can't call them. Thanks for any replies.

Default RE: Mamba in Plane?

Unless Castle Creations has the "Motor Police" come down on you , I don't see why you couldn't. The motor can't tell where it's installed.

I think it may be because the Comp X is a super-hot motor, one with a very high Kv rating (8000 RPM/Volt!!). Getting it geared down enough to turn a propeller of a useful size might be a little tough. Plus, if you try to run it with more than 6 cells, it could very well spin itself apart. Most planes run at least a 2S LiPoly (=7 cells).
