I'm fairly new to electric flight and I had a problem today while flying my Alpha Corsair. I'm running an Axi 2808/20 brushless motor with a Jeti Advance 30 ESC. Upon switching over to a Kokam 3 cell, 11.1V, 2000 mAh LiPo pack, the power would cut out in mid flight, forcing me to land. I previously had a 2-cell Kokam 7.4 volt pack in it and did not experience this problem. I'm running a 3 blade 9x6 prop.
The problem appears to be with the higher voltage battery. Can someone shed some light on this for me and explain why I'm experiencing this problem.
Thanks,
Don

with a higher voltage, if you are using the same prop, you will draw significantly more current. this means higher load on the battery, and may trigger the auto cutoff prematurely because the voltage under the heavy load is so low. reduce your prop size a little bit and see if it helps.
