Building a Skeeter, 12 - 14 oz balsa profile, need set up advise
I am scratch building a balsa Skeeter. 30 inch span 12 to 14 oz profile electric 3D airplane.
Here is the question, If you were to buy all your stuff today, what motor and what controller would you get? Who has the best deal out there?
I know a lot of different things will work but I have no experience with the electric stuff.

RE: Building a Skeeter, 12 - 14 oz balsa profile, need set up advise
My roommate and I are both building one each and would love to hear from someone what they are running also. I have a pretty big himax thing I would love to hang on it but I think it is about twice as big as you "need". I would love the power but it must be at least an ounce heavier than it should be.
The pics are not of mine, but from others on the net. hope no-one minds

I don't spend a lot of time here, so sorry I have not seen this post until now.
I'm the designer of the Skeeter, and most of those are my pics, that OK. Usa as many as you want.
The was designed around the Himax 2015-4100 in a 6.6:1 gearbox. I fly mine with that and a GWS 4 channel RX and 4 Pico servos and a TP 1320 prolite pack for outdoors. Indoors we are using a 900mah pack. The plane is very good with an AXI 2208-34.
If I were to start from scratch, I'd do the AXI, 900mah packs and 4 GWS pico servos. keep it around 10-11oz.
I stopped selling laser cut kits due to time. It's hard to do that out of the garage. The plans are still on the internet for free for a stick-built version, and your can get laser cut kits or ARF versions from billyhellrc.com.
