Default How do I remove a pinion?

I have heard that there are pinion removers, but is there another way to remove the pinion from a motor that I can do without a special tool?

You could try heating up the pinion if it's brass and you don't care about using it again. A match will work or a torch. But I'd strongly recommend using a pinion puller that way you will not damage your motor. E-flite makes one.

I use a 40 watt soldering iron and apply heat to the pinion and shaft, then with a flat tip screwdriver pry the pinion off the shaft. It works very well.
