I have a [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKVY7&P=ML]Great Planes Yak 55 3D FlightFlex EP ARF 34.5"[/link] and would like to make it brushless (once the original brushed setup wears out).
What would be some good motor/esc/battery combinations that would perform at least equally as well as the stock setup (shown below)?
Thanks in advance,
Andrew
Current Stock Setup:[ul][*] Motor: 370 size equipped with ball bearings[*] 5:1 gearbox (50 tooth spur and 10 tooth pinion)[*] ElectriFly C-35 Mini Brushed ESC w/BEC[*] LiPo 11.1V 1500mAh 3S 8C[/ul]

Even thrashing your Speed 300 on 3s Lipo you would barely have got 15oz thrust.
Try this - you'll love it! Note the motor weight - your 300 with gearbox etc is at least 60g.
MicroDAN 2505/3D (32g): http://e-foamies.com/store/catalog/p...&products_id=1
9x5 GWS HD prop, Castle Creations Phoenix 10 ESC
10.6v, 9.20A, 97W, 7650rpm, 36.2mph, 582g, 20.49oz, 6.00g/W
You could even go to a 10x6 GWS HD and not exceed the motors specs.

I've got a Great Planes Yak 55 EP 3D. Its the stryofoam model. Once the brushed system was wornout, I decided to upgrade to brushless. The motor of choice was a Welgard motor from BP hobbies. Its only $21 and puts out 21 oz of thrust with an 8x4 prop.

I got longer flight times, cooler running batteries, and more power to get out of trouble. Really has improved my flying with this model.

Check these out:
http://cgi.ebay.com/800-rpm-v-Outrun...QQcmdZViewItem
Their prices are rising slowly but steadily (I paid something like $31 shipped for mine), but they are still a great value. It's a little heavier than most people might be using for this plane (57grams) but my Yak came out a little heavy anyway. My Yak's AUW is 18 oz and I'm getting 31 oz of thrust out of this motor with a 11x4.7 prop (31oz thrust, 14 amps, about 140W/lb). Using TP 1320's I get about 8 minutes of aggressive flying. I tried propping up to get the full 180 to 190 watts the motor is capable of, but the motor and the battery just didn't get enough airflow to keep cool.
I love these motors. I also bought the next size up (search ebay for BL2810) from the same vendor for $33 shipped (it's approximate size is between and E-Flite Park 480 and Power 10) to put on a Seagull models Extra 300 EP. It hasn't flown yet but I'm expecting great things. I'm also thinking about buying the larger yet BL2826 motor to put on a .40 sized plane.

A 45g Axi 2208/34 will be fine:
8x4 GWS HD: 10.7v, 7.80A, 83W, 9780rpm, 37.0mph, 522g, 18.38oz, 6.29g/W
You might well be able to push it a bit further, since your necessarily small pack won't deliver as much as 10.6v under load.:
9x5 GWS HD: 10.6v, 11.70A, 124W, 8310rpm, 39.3mph, 717g, 25.25oz, 5.78g/W
