Default Kontronik SWING 1000

Hi! I bought the Kontronik SWING 1000 ECU for a Ni-Mh system a few years ago, and happily used it since. However having just bought a new charger which does LiPo's, I want to know if I can use this controller with those cells. I'm hoping to go up to a higher voltage [Around 12v to 14v], so would LiPo be an option, or would a new controller be needed? If so, just how much better cost, weight and performance wise are LiPo over Ni-Mh?

Thank you all very much!
Daniel
