Default New moter is bad? HELP!!!

How rare is it that a brand new moter is bad? I just hooked up my Scorpian 2215-18
and it spooled up fine without the prop but after I mounted it to the plane now all it does is strain to make even one turn.Did I harm it by running it without a prop? Plus it doesnt make the chirp noise anymore either. Anyone understand this? Thanks

Check the connections. It sounds like maybe one or more of the connections are not good.

Is there any chance that the prop is too large for the motor?

Sounds like something is binding in the motor - possible a mounting screw is impacting the rotor? Does the drum freely rotate by hand?

If you are not hearing the chirp you refer to, you may have problems with your ESC and you should try resetting it...usually unplug then plug back in and set sticks to up and down position. This may vary depending on your ESC, so follow the directions for your unit.

mastic -

Whether or not the CC25 is large enough depends at least as much on the prop as on the motor. With a small prop (APC 7x5 E) on 2S lipo, your motor will draw a little over 5A. With a large prop (APC 10x5 E) and 4S lipo, the same motor will draw more than 23A. See the [link=http://innov8tivedesigns.com/Scorpion/Scorpion%202215-18%20Specs.htm]manufacturer's specs[/link] for more info.
