AXI 2208/26 motor questions...........
Hi there,
I have recently purchase my first electric model, a Phoenix "Tucano" and the recommended motor for this plane is an AXI 2208/26 Outrunner, i was wanting to know what the smallest and largest battery i can use with this model. I am using a 9 x 4.7 APC propellor (i believe AXI recommended an 8 x 4, the hobby shop didn't have one and they told me the one i have would be fine?) with a Venom 25amp ESC and the model should way between 550 to 600 grams.
Currently i have a 2100maH Evolite Battery 7.4v 2S 17C Lipo that seems to be working ok, but i was given two Xpower 620mah 11.1v 15C battery's i am able use these battery's with a different propellor? Or are they two small, i guess if anyone has a recommended setup info for this plane would be most helpful.
Sorry for the newbie question,
Cheers,
Sweetdudeplanes.

Your motor is rated for max 11A.
With a 9x4,7APC-SF propeller on 2S LiPo the load will be appr 12-14A I think. Too much, but it could fly for years without being damaged as long as the cooling is good.
Your 3S620 batteries should not be loaded at more than 9A, absolute max. I think a 6x4 already is above that on 3S...

Thanks for the info Joonorway, i think it might be best to step down to an 8 x 3.8 according to model motors this is the recommended prop for this motor. If anyone else has any recommendations would be helpful,

Even an amp miser 8x4 GWS HD draws 13.30A on this motor! An 8x3.8 APC SF will draw more. Tread carefully! Even a 7x4 APC SF takes it well over the suggested 9A/11A limit.

RE: AXI 2208/26 motor questions...........
I'd see what YOUR motor on YOUR pack draws with a 7x5 APC E... if it is no more than 12A or so at WOT I'd say you are okay.
I see on the Axi webpage that they suggest 8x3.8 for 2s on trainers, then 7x4 on 3s for aerobatics. For 3D they do suggest 8x3.8 on 3s (I assume limited bursts of WOT), but it seems significant that nowhere in their table of suggested applications do they even hint at 3s - just 2s, 7-cell and 8-cell.

RE: AXI 2208/26 motor questions...........
Yeah i guess an amp meter is in order, i looked all over AXI's web page for more setups for this motor combo but could'nt find anything either. Talked to a lot of hobby shops and got numerous different opinions, this is why i got a little confused with prop selection etc.
Thanks guys for the help anyway much appreciated,
