Problems with Dualsky speed controller?
A good friend is trying to drag me kicking & screaming out of the stone age (brushed motors/nicad cells) but I'm having problems with (I think) a Dualsky XC 4018 BA speed controller.
It's powering a Twister 25 outrunner, donated by my friend, on a Flitepower 2100mA 3 cell lipo.
At full throttle (about 38 amps) the motor makes a squealing noise & slows right down. As it squeals the current drops. It sounds like the prop is slipping on the motor shaft but I can see the motor rotating & this is not the problem. If I dive the model & apply full power everything is fine but on the ground & when climbing it squeals. The controller is rated at 40 amps, 6-10 nicads or 2 to 6 lipo cells.
It does not have the same problem on 8 cell nicad packs which I use in the same model although the current draw & power are lower due to the lower voltage. Sounds like a current related thing.
Ideas? - John.
