Default No BEC with High voltage ESCs ?

In looking at high voltage escs, they all seem to have no BEC and say something about being "opto-isolated". Does this mean you have to run a receiver pack? I am looking into a 40 sized electric conversion and want to run a 5S lipo with 5 std servos with a BEC.

Thanks,
Alex.

You get ESC with BEC for 5S, and higher too. I prefer the Jeti Spin ESCs... The Jeti Spin 55 should be enough for a .40 conversion.
Else you can add a separate UBEC to the motorbattery in parallell with the ESC without BEC.

You will have to use Rx pac for the receiver and servo power.

I'm putting together an electrifly ss60 amp Esc and a Rimfire
35 36 1200 bl motor. These were supose to be Plug n Play lol.
They both came with female connectors, so look for that problem
when selecting components.

JMO, why a 5s pac ?

No need for receiver pack, in this type of installation you can use an external switching type BEC, the new Castle creations unit is about the price of a good receiver pack and a lot lighter

Or you can use one of the new Lipo RX packs. That way you won't be sapping power from your main pack, and should it go dead, you still have controls to bring it in....
By the way, E-Flight just released an ESC that is good for 60 amps or so and I know it's good for 5S and possible 6S. It also has a 2 amp BEC.....JFYI.....Pat

A (non-switching) BEC for high voltages would have to dissipate too much power and would get very hot.
