Default Conversion Question

Not sure if this is the correct niche for this post, but I gotta start somewhere. Object of attention is 1/5 scale (giant scale) Top Flite P-47. Target weight 22-28 pounds. Will be swinging NRG Research 24" 4 bladed variable pitch prop. Not looking to break the sound barrier, but, would like to see scale or near scale speed, decent acceleration, climb rate etc. Is there anything out there that will come near or hit that mark. Any suggestions, resources re: motor, ESC, how many tons of LiPo will be needed and so on will be greatly appreciated. TIA. [sm=confused.gif][sm=confused.gif]

Default RE: Conversion Question

Hacker has the A100/150/200 motors. I've been testing out a setup using 2 KMS 5331 motors shaft coupled together. They will put out 22 lbs of static thrust with a APC 26x15E 2 blade. Each motor has its own CC HV-45 ESC and 9S1P 3200mAh battery. When set with current limiting to sensitive and soft cut-off the ESC's top out at 40Amps and 4400RPM. I haven't gotten this setup into a plane yet. There's enough voltage to get to 7000RPM which it does when spinning a 16 inch prop with 20 amps per motor. Total weight of this setup is just under 7 pounds.

Default RE: Conversion Question

let me know how your conversion goes because i wanted to do the same swap. I was either thinking the larger 600 kontroniks motor and gearbox combo or a larger rimfire motor. I think the kontronik would work fine. I have a kontronik converted tower trainer and it climbs very well.

so far all my planes have been electric converts and they are all plenty powerful.
