Default How to load test brushed system

Hello,

I'm currently working on a brushed park flyer and have what appears to be a range issue, but I'm starting to think it's the ESC cutting out.

Is there an easy way to load test the ESC? How about the entire system, but with the ability to determine where the issue is?

The motor is a GWS EM350
Voltage - 6.0
No Load Current - 1.4A
No Load Speed - 30500 rpm

The ESC is a GWS ICS300
Auto-Cut - 4.2V
BEC - 5V / 1.2A
Con. Current - 8A /15A max
Battery Range - 5-8 cell (6V - 9.6V)

The battery is a Ni-Mh 7 cell.
Voltage - 8.4V
Capacity - 1100 mAh

Servos are a couple MINISTDJ
4.8V torque 3.40 kg-cm.

I'm not sure if there's a best practice for testing this on a bench, but testing it in the air isn't working too well for me.

When I range test by holding the plane at head level and having someone move the servos and motor I get outstanding range. However, once in flight the range is significantly less.

Thanks for any help.
