Electric motor capacitor

I am just getting into electric and want to convert some gliders to electric. Any rule of thumb for size of capacitor required for motor size?

Hi,
Generally you use three .47uf capacitors. 1 from each of the poles to the can, and 1 between each pole. Hobby Lobby sells some at [link]http://www.hobby-lobby.com/motoraccy.htm[/link], but you'd probably be better off walking into your local radio shack. Get the ceramic kind.

Chris.

You can use the same size capacitors for most any motor.

Here is what I generally use. Sometimes only 1 cap. across the terminals works fine.

The Radio Shack capacitors you need are Part #272-134 (Pkg of 2) described as .047uF Ceramic Disc Capacitors.
