Prop Question
Does anyone know if they make a 13x4.7 slow flyer prop??
thanks |
RE: Prop Question
Ooh, I know they make a 13x4W wide-blade 3D prop, but that's probably too heavy.
In slow flyers, when you get up to that size, you usually want the higher pitch to compensate for the fairly low RPM you'll get by gearing down the motor to drive a prop that big without burning up. Gearing down and spinning a larger prop does have its limits :) I'd also worry about spinning a slo-flyer prop that big at an RPM high enough to fly a slow flyer. A 20MPH pitch speed on a 13x4.7 prop is about 4500 RPM. The smaller slo-flyer props are maxxed out at 6000 RPM, and as you get bigger, the limit goes down. I wouldn't doubt but 4500 RPM is too fast for a 13" slo-flyer prop. |
RE: Prop Question
Try perhaps the 13X6.5E Thin-Electric Prop, APC part number LP13065E. The thin electric props are a little beefier than the SF props, but they are a whole lot lighter than the glow props.
Good luck with your application. -David |
RE: Prop Question
Thanks for the replies, I was just going off what moto calc said for best thrust. I have a himax 2015-2800 with gws b gearing and tp 3s 1300mah lipolys. The 12x6 I have on there now works fine I was just looking for a little more ummphh. I might try the 5400kv motor I have on 2s 1300s with d gearing and a 12x6 prop.thanks for the help guys.
