Astroflight Cobalt 05 FAI racing motor

12 years ago I bought this motor and put it aside. I lost it and just found it. Since I'm very interested in electrics now but not that knowedgeable so I do not know if it has a use given today's motors. Can anyone tell me some uses for this motor, I.E. it can only pull a 16 ounce plane on direct drive with a XX.XX prop, XX cells? Will a gear box hook up to this and make it more usefull? I had an idea it might work better in a glider? What do you think?

http://www.astroflight.com would be a good place to start looking. You might consider writing Astro Bob an email too.

I have the FAI 05 geared and used to run it on 8 cells with a 12x8 folder in a 2M sailplane, it climbed very well. [8D] I've retired it and since gone brushless geared and 7 cells for WOW climb.

For direct drive though I think you will be limited to an 8x4 prop on 8 cells, maybe a .15 size plane?

Thanks Ray,
I've already sent an email to Bob and have been waiting a reply also. I got a feeling it is going to make a good paperweight.
