best place to locate the ECS
 

Whats the best place to locate the ECS a Jeti 30Advanced
I cant mount it in the motor bay as the model has a narrow nose, the options are
1. in the fuselage above the battery
2. as above but cut some vents into the fuselage but this would look ugly
3. under the motor but this would look ugly and could get dammaged
4. OR ??

Also how far away from the receiver does the ESC have to be?

The model is a Top Gun Air Blaster

Woody: Ugly is better than burned out! Suggest keeping the controller away from the batttery as it can only help increase battery heat. Getting air past the motor mount firewall should not be a bigee. Whenever possible< I suspend the battery and controller with light balsa and cut down thin velcro. This seems to help air move around all surfaces and keep things cool. Some systems seem to generate much more heat than others. The right combo in prop, motor and battery size for the plane will result in a generally cool running system. A hacker 20-22L, hacker 20A controller, TP 1320 and 11-4.8 apc on a rcx planes 330L generlly does not gernerate much more than normal ambient air heat. The systsem is 17 oz. A AXI 2212, TP 1320, phoenix 25 in a rcx planes Illusion runs on a 9 X 3.8 apc with the same results. Both motors would turn larger or more pitch props, however would generate more draw, thus more heat and would be out of ballance. The Hacker system came as a well thought out and proved system from rcx planes. The AXI system is as good in my humble view and was generated with a watt meter and trial and error. Both provide 15-17 minutes of enjoyable action. Take the time to get your flight system ballenced to a point heat is not a issue and the result is a happy plane and flyer.
