Aveox Zagi-35 ESC not arming

I got a Zagi 35amp ESC in hopes of using it in a small boat. I have all the electronics connected outside the boat with the new ESC and when i turn on the receiver the thing wont arm. There is a small LED on the circut board that is supposed to illuminate when its armed and I get nothing. The steering servo works fine.

I received no documentation with the ESC itself, but research tells me my transmitter needs to be in neutral for the ESC to arm. I have no clue how to do that... I have a pistol grip type transmitter and the trigger is in the center rest point. Beyond that what do I need to do? I have no adjustment for a "Dead Zone". I'm pretty lost at this point and hoping someone here might be able to help me out.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure the throttle AND throttle trim if there is one is in the full off position, then see if it doesn't arm then.

Hope this works!

RE: Aveox Zagi-35 ESC not arming

I do have a throttle trim on my transmitter. Unfortunately it doesnt tell me which direction is off. I've tried both. And full off I assume would be pushing the trigger all the forward, i.e. reverse. So far no method has yielded any results.

I have noticed that the motor, Not the ESC, does make a slight noise when i trurn the ESC switch on. It doesnt turn the shaft but it does cause a definite vibration in the motor that can be felt. Ive tried to see if there is any voltage coming from the ESC to the motor when this happens and havent found anything really detectable... Im hoping this things is not DOA.

Everything ive messed with prior to this has been a RTR setup. This would be my first actual "do it myself" project... so far its a "doesnt really do anything" project. :P

Is there a way to tell if maybe the ESC is damaged or cooked? All I can figure is that maybe my transmitter is not "good" enough to work with a picky ESC!
