Running a brushless in reverse

Hello... I was told in order to run a brushless motor in reverse (for a flying wing, in my case), one only needs to reverse several wires. Otay, which ons? My ESC has three wires - red, black, white. Thanks.

Hi Rusty-Gunn. You just switch two of the three wires for the motor, doesn't matter wich one. That'll do it.

I switched the red and black wires, but my ESC beeps. I didn't have time to check the paper (instructions) because my nephew came by, and we went out to fly, first time in several months. We indeed had plenty of enjoyment. I'll get back to my plane and figure out the problem. Thanks for the info.

Have you "cycled" the throttle to set the safety override function? Place throttle lever at low position and turn on transmitter. The ESC should beep once. place throttle lever at full high position, it should beep agan. Lower throttle to low position. Now the ESC should beep maybe 4 times. It is armed and ready to go.

The three wires from the motor doesn't matter which wires they attach to on the ESC except for rototion. You can't hurt the motor by incorrectly hooking it up. If the motor runs backwards, simple switch any two leads.

Hi Rusty-Gunn.

Like heli_Rod says, there's a safety precedure you have to follow to make the motor run. It's some different procedures to make the motor run, one of them is like heli_Rod wrote you. I have a TMM ESC that need that same procedure to make the motor run, another ESC of mine just need to have the throttle stick at lovest position for ab. 5-10 seconds.

It's important that you read the instructions for your ESC, since it's important for the ESC to know when to cut throttle power, to save your LiPos. You can also setup break, so your prop woun't spinn when you push your throttle stick down.

Good luck. ;)
