Brushless??

Do you have to run a li-po when using brushless (running like 400xt bl)? Or can you use ni-cd, ni-hm too?

Thanks!

RE: Brushless??

Brushless motors will run just fine with nickel chemistry batteries (NiMH and NiCd).

You often see brushless motors and lipos used together because lipos became available (or at least affordable) at just about the same time that brushless motor competition heated up, making brushless motors more affordable, too.

In my view, lipos are more of a leap forward than brushless motors.

RE: Brushless??

The LiPo's are just much lighter and pack more of a punch suitable for the high power brushless motors, but like jdetray said, the NiCd and NiMh's will work. They may not have the current rating (continuous and burst amp discharge rates) required to really let the brushless motor let loose though.
