Thermal cutoff

Does anyone know what the thermal cutoff temp of a C.C. Phoenix 25 is? I can't seem to find the info in the instruction sheet or at their website. I'm using one in a Heli-max MX400 mini heli, and it regularly reaches temps of 145* F. It's running on a 3 cell 2100mah lipo and turning a Ultrafly C/13/33H outrunner. I am using 4 micro servos, which does exceed the recommended amount for the BEC. Most people flying this size heli use the built-in BEC in their controllers with 4 servos and no problems reported. The trouble I've been having is the occasional cutting off of the motor during extended hovering. It cuts off just for a second, and then returns. It's more like a glitch in the motor, and not a radio glitch. I'm using a Futaba PCM receiver and don't think it's a radio glitch, since it only happens after long periods of hovering, (over 10 minutes), and never when the system is cold. I'm thinking it's thermal cutoff, but I don't know at what temp this occurs. The system draws around 15 amps max.

RE: Thermal cutoff

The best people to ask a question like this to are the ones that manufacture the ESCs, namely the guys at Castle :) We have a dedicated Castle forum over at wattflyer.com if you'd like to check it out.

Thanks Matt,
It's funny you answered my thread when you did, because I was just going over the answer to my question at another RC forum, and the reply is from Bernie Wolfard of Castle Creations. He says that running 4 micro servos on the CC-25 is pushing it a bit. If there is any binding of the servos, then that adds to the problem, and the BEC can't handle it. He recommends going to the Phoenix 35, as it has two BEC circuits in parallel, which effectively doubles the BEC's capacity. Sounds good to me. I have a -35 in a fixed wing plane that I can pull and try in the heli. Thanks for the reply.
