I have always used the compressed air can that you buy for computers. Never used a cleaning solution of any kind.

Most of the time you can take the armature out of the can and the use the compressed air to blow off any dirt etc. As stated before any cleaner may also eat away the coating on the wire and cause a short later on !

We talk like it is as easy as opening a sandwich bag.

It is not that easy sometimes, for everyone.
Some motors come apart with a tiny Allen wrench. Others have a TINY, 3/16" diameter spring clip that LOVES to fly off the shaft & never be found again.

What make and model is your motor?

hint:
When you take your motor apart, work with it inside a big zip locking type bag. That way,
when tiny clips.... go flying off, they will be inside the see-thru bag. This idea is not original
with me, I stole it.

How do you put the TINY clip back on to the shaft after stretching it so wide, that it falls off everytime the prop pulls ? The clip then flies off & is never seen again.

All this pull apart is easy. Without a small needlenose plier to squeeze the tiny clip around the shaft tightly, You will wind up buying a motor.

Keep working in a baggie.

Tony.

If you are REALLY NOT very mechanical, take the motor to a model airplane club & ask for their help. I am damm good at this motor clip stuff now. I STILL take a GWS aluminum collar with setscrews & use that to hold the shaft in place. Yes, I really am that good. How is that possible ?

I did mechanical & electrical repairs for 45 years. [:'(]
