Possible to re-program ESC?

Howdy,

I have a 25a Eflight speed controller from a Blade 400 heli. It says on the speed controller it is a "helicopter" controller. With this ESC the motor starts spinning up slow, then after that will let you slow it or speed it up a little faster (but still doesn't seem very responsive).

So the question is, can this be changed? I would like to use this in a plane and would like a little faster response.

So I guess non-answers are answers enough...

as it was sold as a RTF...I am not sure if that one is...

I would contact Horizon directly and ask them

Did you get an answer to your question from Horizon?

If if truly is a E-Flite 25 esc, I would think you could download the instructions from Horizon and program away.

Honestly I haven't tried. It odd getting it off the ground to start but once the prop is up to speed I can go instant on just like anyone else. Also, I haven't been flying the plane I put it in.

This will probably get looked into again because that scratch built plane isn't doing so hot and I'm looking into a trojan now. Then again, I think the trojan will come with one...

According to the Blade 400 RTF manual it is not programmable. See page 20 of the manual, which is page 11 of the pdf file (hit the link below):

[link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo/Files/EFLEFLH1400%20-Blade-400-3D-Manual_loRes.pdf]Blade 400 RTF Manual[/link]

It explains the ESC settings and how the slow start and fast start features work.

After checking I would say you are right on the money. I was thinking the E-Flite ESC's had helicopter and airplane modes, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I must have been thinking of Castle ESC's instead. From your info it seems that there is little you can change setting wise.

RE: Possible to re-program ESC?

Well, good to know! I should have looked in the manual but didn't even think about that which is strange because I am a "read directions before assembly" kind of guy.

All-in-all not too big of a deal as my next plane is looking to be a T-28 Trojan and even as a PNP it comes with a new controller.
