Are these engines strong units?, do they hold a good tune? and do they make the claimed HP and rpm?

No engines make the claimed HP and rpm, because HP tests can be loaded however you like, and the rpm test are with a fixed load (usually alot less than the weight of a car) on them.
The K4.6 is a bog standard cheapish RTR engine. It will do it's job fine in a non-spectacular way.

The HO K4.6 was the stock Hellfire engine, and I never heard anything good about it. On the contrary, it was supposedly less powerful than the normal K4.6(which btw is identical to the original Axial 28 Spec 1), and over the years, back in the day, I seem to recall seeing more complaints about it than praise.. Depends what you want.. If it's dirt cheap for a simple basher Savage or something, OK. But yeah, never pay normal new price... Get an LRP Spec 3, Dynamite Big Red, Picco 28, etc...

Many many people over the years have really bad-mouthed the Axial Spec 1S, but to be honest mine was great. I had it in my Savage XSS, and break in, tuning, longevity, power, etc.. were all great. No complaints. (The Savage sure sucked though..) I got that Axial a LONG time ago too - from Slapmafro no less...
I later got the Axial 28RR - a different engine, for my Muggy. In the Muggy I was never happy with it. It was a horror to break in and run for the first 1-1 1/2 gallons, and was just never that impressive in the Muggy. I then got an LRP Spec 3 for the Muggy, and the difference was honestly enormous. The LRP Spec 3 with JP-2 pipe was a tremendous pile of fun..
Having taken the 28RR out of the Muggy, I put it in the Savage XSS. And there, to be honest, it was much, much better.. It started to run more consistently, and overall I ended up being fairly happy with it.. Back at that time though, for the price the LRP just offered better value, better power, and better user-friendliness... And still does IMHO.

well i dont doubt you about that lrp, those things are wicked,,, but i dont have that kind of money, so do you think that the .28rr is good for a 139.99 motor.

Mine was a long time ago.. Break it in and see how it goes. May well be great for your needs.. Ultimately, what's important is what works for you, not what people say on the internet..

Didn't you already order it? If so, you got it now, so run it and see how you get on...
If not, I would get a Mach 26 "Truggy" from Dynamite, or Losi 454, or Dynamite Big Red...
Don't even know what RC you're running it in..

I had the K4.6HO in my hellfire a few years back. Had lots of balls. I liked it but it had a few issues such as loose mid range needle. For the price there are better engines out there. After it died (after alot of abuse) i went for the LRP 28. It ripped. Finally i went to the os28 and never looked back.
