Default Stupid question

I picked up my truck today and gave it throttle for about two seconds with the wheels off the ground to see if the tranny was shifting. . Did I do any damage to the motor? Or am I just being a hypocondriac with computer access?

A few seconds of the engine revving without a load won't have done any damage...

It revs without load when you jump it and try to bring the nose up anyway.

Don't know if you have done any damage, If you only revved it a couple of times then probably not.
But you must Not do it again, you can cause damage to the engine revving it without any load on it (with the wheels off the ground)
Hope this helps!

Simon!

all that damage without load its bull crap...

when i do jumps with mine you have to give it heaps of throttle to get it to back flip in the air... no dramas

wait until your rod breaks.. running the engine above its specified rpm DOES stress the engine. it usually isn't one of those things that is all of a sudden, it is cumulative over time. one run out your engine suddently just quits if you are lucky, or has a hole punched out the side if you aren't.

I partially agree to this. I over rev all of my engines, boat and car when they catch air at WOT. If a rod is going to go, there's no chance of saving it or anything. Also, if a rod goes how can you determine whether it failed due to over revving?

I believe you did not harm your engine from this one time incodent.

Theoretically over revving a single cylinder 2 stroke cannot be done (within reason, reving 200,000 is well beyond capability)as long as the setup is okay and the engine is not going to overheat.

Oh yes quality counts too
