Absolute best engine for under $200?
Just want to know what is the best engine for under $200 for a truggy. I was thinking about getting the picco P3 or lrp spec3. Any other opinions for the best one?

The new STS .21 has seem to really gone over well! If you want a .28, check this link out this is what I run in my Truggy.

It really depends on the application, are you going to race or bash? If you race I would suggest the STS .28pro it has real smooth power through all bands. The right .21 would be fine too, just depends where you run (type of track). We carry most all brands of Engines, I just think for the $ STS is a Great Value!

trevpjm, (sorry off topic a little) does the STS 28pro have the same QC problems the STS 30Rev 2 dose?
j_blaze, your list looks good except for the OS VG, the VG's I would not run, but the SW26, mach 427, go tech, and STS I would go with.

I have a Sportwerks .26v2 and a modded Axial spec1. I really like the Sportwerks. Its a screaming little motor but I want to step it up a notch.

if your going for a .28
which i would because if you want the power of a .28 in a .21 you need to spend more then 200 bucks
LRP .28 Spec 3 - 170.00
Jammin .28 - 200.00
My friend is running the Jammin and i'm running the LRP we both have 8ights
Jammin is a nasty motor, but my friend had to use a diffrent carb
A guy name supertib knows alot about picco/jammin motors he has a post about sealing and fixing the carb.
I just think its a load of crap to have to replace/fix/seal a carb on a 200 dollar motor
the LRP has been hassel free so far,
IMO LRP is the best bang for the buck

Sadly you have to do more then just seal it, sanding and filing down the slide..
Why doesn't picco just put a decent carb on the motor,
The motor its self is awesome, if it didn't have carb problems id buy one,
But unluckylonestar Jammin turns all of his tires into diamonds coming down the straight WOT its pretty impressive.

OFNA will replace any faulty carbs no questions asked....... not every Picco carb has issues either, most are as trouble free as any other company... but there are still a fairly high number of trouble carbs that either need to be fixxed or need to be sent back for warranty...
But for $200.00 the Jammin JPX 28 is a monster of a motor, excelent power, excelent run time and insane durability...
You can use LRP Spec 3 carbs on a Picco 28, same with the DPS 3 needle and the SW 26 carb...

Supertib,
So you would recommend the jammin .28 over a picco p3 and over all others for under 200. Would i notice much gains over my Sportwerks .26?

Oh ok then. The New sts s21t really looks good but not enough info on it yet to see if it it will hold up and if the power is good.

The P3 28 FTT makes 2.02 HP and 76 oz/in TQ..........the SW 26 makes 1.3 HP and 55 oz/in TQ...... YES you would notice a difference, a huge massive unbelievable blow your mind type of difference.... comparing a motor like a SW 26 to a Turbo Picco 28 (Jammin/Drake/FTT) is like comparing a Corvette Z06 engine to a Grand Am GT engine...they are in completely different classes ...
I would stay clear of STS..they are cheap, but they are not that great of value when you look at the whole picture....

Unluckylonestar is using the carb off a Mach 427, you can add that to the list of carbs that work on it

thats a very small carb for that 28...these mills will run well with 9 or 10 mm venturi's.....the Mach 427 is 7 mm i beleive

I thought the mach 427 has a 6.5mm bore and the losi 427 has a 7 or 7.5mm bore and the SW 26V2 has a 9mm bore?

RE: Absolute best engine for under $200?
Im leaning towards the LRP Spec3. Would this be a good choice. Seems like the best under 200 is the LRp, Picco/Jammin. Any advantages between teh LRP and Picco? I like the price of the LRp and all I read about the LRP is great, great power, easy to tune and very relaible. Does anyone know the numbers of the LRP compaired to the Picco?.

RE: Absolute best engine for under $200?
tower has a $25 off for orders over 199 and the picco is 199.99 and the LRP is 174.99 so they would be the same price.
