Default Best .21 motor for truggy

What do you think would be the best .21 motor for a Jammin X-2 kit?

Both the Sirio CL7B and Picco based Wasp 21 beat the Radical in torque now !

IMHO the strongest 21 for Truggy is a Picco based 21 !

my Fav right now are the Sirio CL7B STI, and now that I can get them for 200 bucks from a friend who buys 10 at a time for 200 bucks, you can't it, even if I couldn't Id probably buy this motor again at 300 bucks,

For me, its been the most hassel free tire shredding motor, i've been running it for a few month at my track and a few people have went out and bought one since.

But the list of .21s goes like this,

Luck of the draw .21s- (Engines are known to have problems but some people say they run perfect)
GO engines
AXE rossie engines
STS engines
OS V-spec
SH
Picco

-Consistent-
Sirio
Nova
RB

With these engine you get what you pay for most of the time, you'll want to spend 200 to 300 a decent .21 and 250 to 360 for a nice race motor.

A friend of my runs an RB S5 a 229 dollar motor in his X2 and that thing friging rips makes me want to buy an S5

With an open budget I would probably get an RB C6 turbo or an OS Speed.. Slightly less expensive, I would get the Orion CRF 21.. - the most impressive engine probably that I've actually seen live.. It's silly powerful... Next down in budget, one of the other Picco-based 21's.. Then I guess a VSPEC or Sirio..

(But to be honest I'm expensive-motor-shy and might just go back to my good ole' Mach 427.. )

I currently own a engines from every manufacturer on your list ! I agree Sirio tune easy, however the cranks are not the most durable so I would not consider them trouble free IMHO..I have 2 motors with snapped cranks from being over lightened from factory.....So lump them into the list with the others....The closest motors to trouble free are the Nova based engines, unfortunately most of these lack bottom end power and are tuned more for Euro style tracks, i feel the same about the Sirio's powerband as well,,,awesome top ends but lacking in the low end torque i like in a truggy.......Sirio has changed the way they machine the cranks on the newer motors, they no longer lighten them like they used to so crank problem is only a concern if you buy a older silver case CL7B......... So far the only 2 .21's i found with enough low end jam are the OS V-Spec and the PIcco .21's.......pretty much all the current .21's have awesome top end

I had that RB C6 L2G and i turned around n sold it b4 i even put a drop of fuel in it, such of bad move now that i think about it but at the time i thought a .28 would be better but its worse, way too much power for short tracks and not enough run time on big tracks. The guy i sold it too got it modded and say its a beast x2

How are the GRP engines? Im looking into getting one next year and i heard from a couple people that they are nice on the track.

I have not seen any dyno specs that match a radical 621,they are totaly retarded on the low end.And also have good topend run out.

I am shocked to see you recommend a 21 for a Truggy after all the trash you talked about .21's not having enough oomph for a Truggy !however I do agree the Radicals have very good torque !

on a budget: Go 21 3 port w/jp-4, nova long header = crazy power, smoooth and insane run times.
no budget: jammin/picco/drake/trinity/mega 21 w/2046 pipe, yeehaw!! or C6 w/2013 and jammin header wooha!!! = power all over and endless top

I agree, a low end .21 will not be good for a truggy at all.. IMO it should be a high end .21 (stock or modded) or a high end .28 not modded.

I am one that has had VERY good luck with the STS engines. I have owned 5 some with WELL over 5 gallons on them still running fine. The only one I had problems with is one Rick Brake at RBmods did and it never did run right out of the box. Rick Brake is whole another story as I have talked to many racers.

I am going to get another engine for my race Savage and on the top of my list is Picco and the SH based engine. SH YEARS ago had some rod problems but since have been straighten out and are some of the most reliable easy to tune engines made in there price range. The Picco is known for carb problems but they are now coming with a different carb. Now if this cured the problem only time will tell.

As I have said before the problem is there are SO MANY good engines out there and I cannot afford to buy one of each.

If your talking truggy motors and your not afraid to get what you pay for then the Trinity fully modded EB .24 will work very well. Mine will wheelie my RC8T for 20 to 30 feet without to much problem. I also run the O.S. ZX .28 as well as the RB 928 and can honestly say the Trinity is as strong or stronger with better run times if racing is your thing.

I am running a .21 Ninja now, and have a .28 Ninja on the way. I have a Kingheadz extended engine mount, and an extra clutchbell, flywheel atc, so I can swap them really quickly.
