Put a LRP carb on it. I am considering a Picco .28 for my race Savage but am going to wait till the newer Piccos come out as they come with a newer carb do to all the Picco carb problems.

It is pretty easy, remove the carburetor, remove the idle screw, slide the slide out and remove the pivot ball on the end of the slide. Now remove the rubber or silicone boot. Get a drill and chuck the slide up in the drill. Chuck it up where the pivot ball rides on the end of the slide. Put a thin coat of toothpaste, I like good old fashioned Colgate and not the new gels.... on the side of the slide, start it back into the carb body and fire up the drill. I use a cordless drill so I can watch TV while polishing. I usually wipe the slop off and smear it back on the sides of the slide and keep polishing until the paste looks very dark grey. Then I go to the sink and clean it up with hot dish soap/water. I use a hair dryer or heat gun to dry the parts and assemble the carb and go test. If it sticks, do it again.

Do yourself a favor when it is sticking though and back out the idle screw. If that fixes it, the screw has a burr or the bit they cut the slide with was worn and the slot is too narrow. I just chuck the idle screw up in my drill and polish it on a fingernail block or very fine sandpaper. I never had a screw stopping the slide require much cleaning to work. Bud
