What's a good pipe for LRP Z.28R spec3 Pullstart?
As the title sais, I am looking for a good pipe to pair with this engine. The engine will power a Hellfire truggy that weights about 10lbs. I will use it 90% for bashing, so more power is welcome. I was looking at Jammin JP2, RB 2045 / 192 and Novarossi 9853 with short manifold.
What's the best pipe out of the 3 and why? Also, is there any other pipe I should look at?
Thanks

Better yet for cheap and effective. Try the losi ht pipe for the lst2 truck. It's only like 30 rocks or so, and gives awsome punch off the line and great midrange, but does drop off on the top end a bit. I have the lrp in my lst2 and tried the jammin jp2 and some other pipe(cant remember off hand) and the stock ht pipe for the lst2 was the best for me. My truck weights around the 14lb. mark and it still wheelies no problem with right tires, and good top end as well. Just can't beat the low end grunt it gives.

Thank you guys, I think will order the JP3 per your suggestions, but still, that RB 2045/192 looks nice as well. I saw the dyno charts for the LRP, the ones where it puts out 1.87hp. For 90% of the engines there they have written the pipe they used, just my luck they forgot to make that note for the LRP.

One of the problems with pipes is what I like you might not as we might drive totally different. I wish I had the money to have a couple dozen different pipes laying around. LOL

It's a strong midrange engine, which is why i recommended a strong midrange pipe. If you put a top end pipe on it, it will help the top end, but it will kill the awesome midrange which is what makes the 6 port SH engines so fun

I am hoping to get a new engine for my race Savage by next racing season and I am considering the LRP or the Picco V3. On the Savage thread they claim the Picco has about 15% more power and a lot more top end.

Leaving the price argument aside, what's the best pipe?
Also, what gearing would you guys suggest? I want better top speed, without killing the acceleration. Stock gearing (right now) is 13/52.

If the LRP Z.28R Spec3 is a good midrange engine, why shouldn't I go with the 2045 (RB midrange pipe) with the short 92mm (high rpm) manifold?

Because I am a cheap bastar.d and I would rather not spend triple-digit money on a pipe

I don't think you're like that, I just think you value your money. Assuming price was not an issue and you wanted the best basher's pipe for the z.28r, what pipe would that be?
Ever since I posted, I checked many threads and videos on youtube, seems like many are using jp2 and jp3 with this engine.
So, right now I will have to choose between:
Jammin JP3
RB 2045/192
Dynamite 053
What's the best pick, performance wise?

RE: What's a good pipe for LRP Z.28R spec3 Pullstart?
Well, since I AM primarily a basher, running my Mach 427 in my Savage, I ran [link=http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-1-8-Buggy-053-Blemished-Hard-Anodized-Pipe-Only_W0QQitemZ200256033990QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio _Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item200256033990&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318]THIS PIPE[/link] since I already had a one-piece header, so that saved me $30 total over buying a $50 Dynamite pipe.
If all you have is the stock kit header that uses a silicone coupler, cost no object go with the RB pipe with a short header....or just buy the $50 Dynamite pipe w/header. Either way you go, your LRP powered Hellfire will be crap-your-pants fast

the "best" pipe for an Axial engine is not necessarily going to be the "best" pipe for a 6 port SH engine.
the Axial engines, especially the "spec 1s", are geared more for low rpm torque than the 6 port SH 25s, 26s, and 28s, so YOUR ideal pipe will not be HIS ideal pipe.
I could tell him that the XXXNT Adam Drake pipe performs well on my OS .12TR, but that doesn't mean it'll do well on a Thunder Tiger .70 in an EK4

If the LRP Z.28R Spec3 is a good midrange engine, why shouldn't I go with the 2045 (RB midrange pipe) with the short 92mm (high rpm) manifold? It should offer the best of both worlds, right? Or is it a bad pipe/combo?

As far as Pipe...I'll add another Vote for the Losi HT Pipe........It's dirt cheap on e Bay and works very good on the Spec 3......(Lots of other engines too)

What do you mean? LRP is no good? I've seen numerous positive reviews for this engine. The only other engine I'd consider is a Picco .28, but that will be my next.
For now, I will have to do with the LRP. Get used to the power, then bring in the big boys.

RE: What's a good pipe for LRP Z.28R spec3 Pullstart?
You know, Sugafree brought up a good point. If you're gonna get a $100 pipe, don't buy a sport engine...
Don't get a $100 pipe, anyway...that other $50 can buy a perfectly good set of wheels and tires, or a spare receiver, or a throttle servo, or a pair of Savage X SS diffs (in case taht LRP powerhouse blows up your HF's drivetrain...and it might...ThunderbirdJunkie's Mach blew up the Savage's plastic diffs...but that's a whole 'nuther story)
At any rate...I'm sure you know ThunderbirdJunkie's position by now.

RE: What's a good pipe for LRP Z.28R spec3 Pullstart?
Well, I get carried away and I start thinking about getting these high-end pipes... probably you're right. So, basically, a new (good) pipe for this engine would be the Dynamite 053.
Thank you, I will get my order tomorrow. Hopefully I will have pictures during the installation.
