hyper 21 problem
I recently bought a mgt with a ofna hyper 21 in it I got it put together finally and when I start it the engine idles fine for about 30 seconds and then it ramps up the rpm like its leaning out I cleaned the carb and it still does it when put my finger over the carb to act as a choke it slows down for a second and goes back up as soon as i take it off
|
Did you try to richen the bottom end carb adjustment?
|
No i tried setting it back to factory specs so Its running very rich
|
when it is running rich is it still idling high? Is the base idle screw correct at about 1mm? Check for air leak with WD40.If you did not replace your fuel line you should it could have small cracks.
|
ya and its not really even idling after 30 secs or so the rpm will keep rising until i choke it out i tried adjusting the idle screw with no change the fuel line has been replaced but i haven't checked for air leaks yet ill have to do that tomorrow i has hoping it was something stupid i know these three needle carbs are a pain to get right

Set the LSN (black one on end of throttle slide) so that it is 0.5mm proud of the housing...that should definitely be rich.....slide gap 1mm. If it is revving high when it starts then close the gap.
Also check the "mid-needle" (gold one on the opposite end of the throttle slide (it is actually not a needle but adjusts the position of the spray bar)), it should be completely flush, but I recommend removing the HSN housing and by looking through the hole you should be able to see the spray bar......and the spray bar has four holes.....one of them should be visible. (I have a picture but it is blurry...it might make more sense than my description though). http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps5ce86ab2.jpg Other than that, check the basics (as already said). |
It was the lsn I guess the factory settings were way off

Ah, glad you worked it out. Have fun. :)
Yes the manual would be better if it stated the amount of turns out from flush or measurement from surround. |
