RE: .21 engine
If it's all the way in, back it out about 3.5 turns and go from there. If it's out all the way out, screw it in till it stops (don't torque it down) then back it out 3.5 turns and go from there. The motor should have a nice transition from idle to speed, then at wide open throttle should smoke nicely without bogging. If it's too lean it will spudder and sound as if it's "missing out".

RE: .21 engine
Lovely sounds like you know your stuff, im great with tuning a large scale gas engine but not too great with these little buggers, must take a bit of getting used to. Thanks for your help its much apprieciated.

RE: .21 engine
Use o.s A5 glow plug, it keeps the temp down.
Also, make the tuned pipe a bit longer (More punch) AND USE THIS / Low speed 5 turns / High speed 3 turns :D |
RE: .21 engine
I'v used o.s plugs before and the guy from my LHS told me just to use standard glow plugs and he's been racing NITRO's for years, but ill give it ago. the low speed is flush with the side of the engine thats usually normal but for some reason the only high speed setting that my engine'll run from bottom to top perfectly is at about 3.75 to 4 turns. If it runs right then it doesn't reaaly matter to me i just found it odd that its normally around 2.5 to 3 but my one's a full turn more than usuall. Would anything cause this. i don't often mess around with NITRO's im into 1/5 GAS eninges and i'm great at tuning them and didn't realise that i'm actually much better than i thought at tuning these little engines (Not To Blow My Own Trumpet) i just haven't ever had one thats played up enough for me to have to try hard at it. If you or anyone else has any ideas why the high end valve has to be set so high drop me a PM or post back. THANKS

RE: .21 engine
OK, before you use an OS plug you need to find out if it's long enough.
Right now you probably look something like this: [sm=confused.gif][sm=confused.gif][sm=confused.gif] The A5 (and OS#8 for example) is shorter than a McCoy#8 or #9 by around 1 thread. This means the spiral is not reaching far enough and the compression ratio of the engine will be way off. The engine WILL NOT run good. I am not sure if the Force engines are supposed to use the short plugs or not (I think not) but you need to check this first, otherwise you will be posting +100 plus threads here asking why it's not running good. edited for speeling. |
