Engine 4-stroking?
I have a Sportwerks .26 that I recently disassembled and cleaned. Since cleaning it sounds like its 4-stroking when it idles, when I give it gas it goes back to "normal" sounding as the rpms increase. I figured it was running wayyyy rich so I leaned it out some but as soon as I do so the temps shoot up. But when I richen it goes back to 4 stroking. I know you ehar about this on planes but I've never seen it on cars. Any ideas?

RE: Engine 4-stroking?
Set the main needle first and then lean the low speed needle to clean up idle and transition.

RE: Engine 4-stroking?
Tune it in the order Kweasal said and if it still sounds like it's 4 stroking at idle but has instant transition when you gas it then don't worry. Car engines will run 4 stroking rich at full throttle if you set the main needle that way just the same as plane engines but you can't clean up the idle mix by adjusting the high speed needle.

RE: Engine 4-stroking?
Ok, I'll fiddle with the needles some more. I had just never seen a car engine 4-stroke before and wanted to make sure nothing was disastrously wrong.
