smt cxp .15 and melted exhaust pipe!!!
Hi all
i got an smartech magic wheel i had about 15 tanks though it and i tuned engine in, took it out today it ran great lots of power from the smt cxp .15 engine but then it got bit louder and started lossing power and then it deid i went over sat down took top off to find the end of the plastic exhast pipe that go in connector melted anway and zip ties missing too i quicky put drop of water on head see if it sizzaled away but it took few seconds to it dry off ,but i might of been to late to test it after engine died [sm=confused_smile.gif] anyways is it normal for cheap plastic pipes to melt or do u think i over leanned the engine ???,the engine still turns over so i don't think i got it too hot to it doing any/much damage it been next pay now till i can get new exhaust so i going get temp reader too so i know temp what this engine should be running at ???? here the exhaust http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...3/100_1164.jpg thanks all for reading and any help you can give me also sorry if this in wrong place Gavin |
RE: smt cxp .15 and melted exhaust pipe!!!
Personally, I haven't ever seen a pipe melt. But it is possible that it was just a combination of being a little bit too lean, and cheap plastic. When running just make sure there is always a light trail of blue smoke coming from the pipe. That is usually a good indicator that the engine is getting enough oil. The boil test is really inaccurate since the length of time it takes for the water to boil away is dependent on how much you drip on.
