Idle problems
Hey guys, I just recently broke in my LST and what I noticed is that, it idles fine when not moving, but when I accelerate and then brake, the idle jumps really high and then settles down after about 3 or 4 seconds, its kind of annoying. and also, my engine takes forever to start, I keep tuning all the needles but nothing seems to fix the problem, could someone help me please

RE: Idle problems
Low speed too lean adn idle screw open too far. Could also be a little lean on the high speed but a real sign of lean low speed is teh high idle off wide open throttle. Reset your needles back to factory. Then make very small adjustments on the high speed needle then tune the low speed and idle. Do a pinch test for idle. It should die within 3-5 seconds once line is pinched.

RE: Idle problems
I know no one agrees with me, but:
Pay real close attention to the video around the 1:00 minute mark. Notice he drops the throttle around 1:07, the idle stays high, then it drops to a normal idle at 1:10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJFsJ...eature=related Notice what it says in the caption at that point. An idle that drops, must have a rich enough LSN. If it drops right away, the HSN is probably to lean. If it slowly drops, the LSN is too rich. Here's another video (hard to tell what's happening, but the narrator says it all): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfivY2NoIKc |
RE: Idle problems
sounds like a air leake problem to me. I would start by checking the pin O-rings,( look for a cracked O-Ring) then place a piece of fuel tubing on the fuel nipple and brush some soapy water around all attachment points on the engine. Look for bubbles. You can also by a soapy mixture for plumbers that run gas lines in the house. It come in a small spray bottle. Then re-seal the area that you find bubbles. Then reset your engine to the factory presets and start the tunning again. I bet it is simple like the cooling head bolt is loose or the carb needs to be re-seated.
