Pull Starter help

I lost three of the four screws that hold the pull starter onto the engine, so i bought some new ones online and put them in. Now when i pull the pullstarter, the cord comes out and doesnt reel back in... help!

i had the same problem
theres nothin you can do to fix it you have to get a new pullstart for it or convert it to a rotor start which i am trying to find out how to do!

it could be that you tighten the screws too much

it could be that the pull start needs to be clean or that the string where that nat is rubbing on the back plate(that why i said to lose that screw b/c of the string)

RE: Pull Starter help

A simple fix (maybe), it sounds like theres not enough clearance inside the pull start with it done up tight. If you loosen the screws and it magically frees up than this is the problem. Its not ideal to leave the screws loose or the will keep falling out. So get a hold of some thick gasket paper or cardpoard and cut out a gasket the same size the plastick cover and put between it and the backplate. Depending on how tight it is it may take two gaskets.
