GLOW PLUG problem
I finally mounted my grp .21 tuned engine and i tried to start it and the starter box could barely turn over the motor and i have the good ofna box.
Anyways thats no the problem... so i tried to losen the glow plug and i couldn't loosen it with my glow plug screw drive. So i used vice grips to twist the glow plug screw drive and i just couldn't get it undone... Do you think this is a defect on the engine???It was the last one on amainhobbies But the plug just wont budge and im turing it counter clock wise to loosen it. Anyone know whats wrong??? |
RE: GLOW PLUG problem
I would take the cooling head and head button off and see what is wrong. Worst case, you may need to just need to get a new head button and glow plug (you should have a couple of extra glow plugs anyways).

RE: GLOW PLUG problem
even if it was cross threaded it would still come out, did you have your wheatties this morning?
i would do as suggested and remove the head/button and have a better look at it |
RE: GLOW PLUG problem
Sounds like the glow plug is frozen. Stick the glow plug wrench back on there and try again. If you can't remove it, you will have to replace the button anyways, so try as hard as you can. If that doesn't work, get a socket that fits the glow plug, a short extension and use a rachet to remove the plug. You will get alot more torque on it that way and it should break loose.

Larry, do not take this as a criticism of your advice, which I think is fine. But I just could not let the irony of your advice and your signature go unmentioned.
